Zoo Safari

Are you a classroom teacher or group leader looking to make the most out of your field trip to the zoo? Try a Zoo Safari!

Zoo Safari on-site educational programs engage participants in hands-on learning during their field trip to the zoo. Zoo educators work with classroom teachers or group leaders to tailor an educational program that meets the groups’ needs. Participants visit the zoo’s classroom where learning will be reinforced through a 60-minute presentation including live animal encounters and animal artifacts such as skulls, furs and feathers. Whether your scouts are earning a patch about what makes a bird a bird, or your high school students are learning about the genetic management of animals in human care, the zoo has a program for you!

Zoo to You

Zoo to You is a traveling, inquiry-based educational program that visits schools, libraries, community centers, senior centers/facilities, day care centers, scout groups and more. Zoo to You's mission is to increase awareness of the natural world and encourage participants to be environmentally conscious. Each program includes live animals such as mammals, reptiles and invertebrates. We also use biofacts (animal-related artifacts such as furs, feathers, and skulls) to create a hands-on experience for participants.

Virtual Zoo to You

With our state-of-the-art equipment, you can tour our zoo, see our exhibits up-close, and get close enough to care – no matter where you are!

Virtual Zoo to You offers education programs on a variety of topics brought to you digitally. Sample subject areas include adaptations, habitats and endangered species. Our programs are designed for specified age groups and grades according to the New York State Learning Standards. We have programs available for ages 3 through adult. Virtual Zoo to You is not suitable for children under the age of 3. Please see our curriculum list below for specific program details. Also, please note that most program themes can be adapted to suit both older and younger aged students. We can also design a program to your specific topic needs or on subject matter not included on our curriculum list. Simply mention your request when you reserve your Virtual Zoo to You program and we’ll do our best to accommodate your needs.
